A Poem For My Twins

Four feet, but not that tall
Twenty little toes in all
Two sets of eyes form a loving stare
Ryder and Mason are the perfect pair
Four hands to clap, to wave and to hold
Two smiling faces - that never gets old
There's double the diapers and laundry to do
But the laughter and giggles are doubled too
One baby cries, the other is sound asleep
We hope to calm him down before the other makes a peep
One steals the toys, the other will cry
I play referee when all goes awry
A year ago you were but a dream
That was a lifetime ago it does seem
On the other hand the time has flown
I am amazed by how much you have grown
My love for you gets stronger with the days
You have improved my life in uncountable ways
I loved you both from the very start
When we learned there was more than one beating heart
Now I look at your faces and I am filled with awe
I do not think it's possible to love you more
In your eyes reflections of us we do see
You are the past, the present and all that will be
I look at those innocent faces that know no sins
And I consider myself blessed to be the mother of twins
(I modified this poem a bit, but the original author is Jacie Loren Jacobowitz)
